“No mistake, Les Mis is faultless”
I Travelled from Lancashire to Middlesbrough to see my cousin’s daughter perform in Les Miserables at the Middlesbrough Theatre. I have watched amateur performances on a regular basis for over 40 years, however I have never seen a performance to equal this show.
I could fault nothing: the set, the lighting, the costumes, the orchestra, the acting were all brilliant, however the singing was in a world of its own – absolutely stunning. This show was on a par with a professional performance.
I came to see a family member, what I actually saw was a memorable show and a tribute to the work of the Middlesbrough Youth Theatre.
Congratulations to everybody who played a part in this production and a very big thank you from a Lancashire lad and his wife – we will be back.

Your review of Middlesbrough Theatre’s Les Miserables, although positive, did not in my opinion convey the sheer delight of the production. The boundless energy and enthusiam shown by the cast was breathtaking. There have been standing ovations from the balcony or the stalls on two particular nights.
Middlesbrough as a centre of cultural excellence? It’s already happening – this cast of young people show great promise for the future. Congratulations to everyone involved.
